Gina Daulerio

Who are you? My name is Gina Daulerio and I’m a Registered Dietitian born and raised in Philly. I love food, cooking, exercising, animals, relaxing, and trying not to take life so seriously. What made you choose nutrition as your career? I was overweight my entire life until I got to high school. Additionally, at 10 years old, I discovered the Food Network and watched it every single day. I learned so much and fell in love with cooking. As I got older, I became more interested in what I was eating. I would read and memorize foods labels and tried to eat healthier options. Senior year of high school, my track coach brought in a friend who was a RD to talk to our team about fueling the body as an athlete. I was completely captivated, asked a million questions, and knew that with my love of cooking and interest in healthy foods, nutrition was something I had to pursue. How long have you been practicing? I have been a RD since November 2018 and joined Your Wellness Consultants in June 2019, after interning with them the year before. I am so happy to be a part of this amazing team. I have experience with seeing clients of all ages and nutritional needs. What’s your approach to nutrition? I believe it’s so important to fix the relationship with food first, whatever that means for you. It’s imperative that we change our mindset on food. We need to let go of an “all or nothing” mindset and stop the cycle of failed dieting, discouragement, and getting on and off the wagon. Nutrition is not universal as different things work for different people. It’s all about finding a healthy lifestyle that is sustainable for YOU. What do you think is one key to success for your clients? Successful clients stop labeling foods as good or bad and realize it’s our habits that literally and figuratively shape us. They know they’ll make mistakes, but that the best thing to do is get right back into their routine and not beat themselves up. Successful clients let go of perfection and stop comparing themselves to others, paving the way to their own health journey.
