Danielle Burge

Who you are? My name is Danielle Burge. I am a Registered Dietitian and Partner at Your Wellness Consultants, LLC. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer at Orangetheory Fitness. Why did you choose nutrition as your career? Honestly, I was studying Nutrition in college as a way to complete my pre-requisite classes so I could apply to Physical Therapy School. After a sports injury, I came back to school for a fifth year, where I decided to take advantage of LaSalle’s dietetic internship. I fell in love with the field of nutrition when working in the field and decided that I no longer wanted to be a physical therapist. How long have you been practicing? I have been practicing nutrition since 2011. In 2013, I started transitioning into private practice and now currently work solely in private practice. What’s your approach to practicing nutrition? Healthy foods nourish our body. It can prevent chronic disease, increases energy levels and decreases inflammation. I encourage my clients to make the best food choices to improve their health not only today but everyday the rest of their lives. What do you think is one key to success for your clients? The 90/10 rule. Eat healthy 90% of the time and treat yourself 10% of the time. The mentality that you can never indulge in a piece of cake or slice of pizza is unrealistic and is setting you up to fail. I think treating yourself in moderation helps you stay on track!
