Who you are?
My name is Christina Ushler and I am Registered Dietitian and Certified Health Coach. I love learning about nutrition and teaching others along the way. I also love cooking, trying new restaurants, reading, running, yoga, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Why did you choose nutrition as your career?
My interest in the field stems back to my teenage years when I noticed how I was eating largely influenced how I felt as a person and my performance as an athlete. I knew at an early age that I wanted to learn more and help people.
How long have you been practicing?
I have been registered and practicing since 2011. Since then, I have also completed a certificate in holistic health coaching (2013) and I most recently completed a Master of Science in Human Nutrition (2019). I started in private practice right away because I knew I wanted to help individuals in an outpatient setting.
What’s your approach to practicing nutrition?
I believe in incorporating higher quality whole foods, instead of promoting a specific type of diet program. Individuals needs to find practices that work for them, and this can also change throughout someone’s life. This makes nutrition both exciting and confusing. Many ailments can be healed through food and lifestyle changes, and my goal is to educate individuals that they have the power in their hands while giving them guidance to do something about it.
What do you think is one key to success for your clients?
I would say that individuals who realize that their health is a journey and not a destination have the best results. These are individuals who are not only willing to learn, but willing to practice and keep these habits for life. There is no “quick fix” and healthy living is a lifelong endeavor that needs consistent application.
